If you’ve ever read a book on how to be a ‘great salesman’ or a book on ‘PMA’, you know that it is how you think that changes your direction. No this is not a mind over matter thing. It is controling the way we think, thing. I read an exerpt from a book by James Clear, ‘Atomic Habits’ on this very thing and it reminded me of what the Word of God has to say on this very matter. As you are aware, there is nothing new under the sun, just some repackaging to make you think it is new.
James Clear gave a basic example of changing the way we think and how it can change our whole outlook on life. “As adults, we spend a lot of time talking about all of the things that we have to do.
- You have to wake up early for work.
- You have to make another sales call for your business.
- You have to work out today.
- You have to write an article.
- You have to make dinner for your family.
- You have to go to your son’s game.
Now, imagine changing just one word in the sentences above.
You don’t “HAVE” to. You “GET” to.
- You get to wake up early for work.
- You get to make another sales call for your business.
- You get to cook dinner for your family.
The key point is that both versions of reality are true. You have to do those things, and you also get to do them. We can find evidence for whatever mind-set we choose.”
The Bible quotes Solomon in Proverbs 23:7, ” For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:” James Allen (1864-1912), the British author of “As A Man Thinketh,” wrote: “You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.” Oh how true, my friend.
Jesus commented on this very thing in Luke 6:45 (KJV), “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
So this means that what goes in comes out. Like they say ‘garbage in garbage out’. So how do we get good stuff to come out? By putting good stuff in, out of the ‘abundance of the heart’. Where does this good stuff come from that influences how we thing, act and speak? From a heavenly Father who loved us and gave us directions on how to live an overcoming and fulfilled life.

Solomon once again gives us some sound advise in Proverbs 4:23 (KJV), “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” You mean to tell me that stink’en think’en can have an effect upon everything I do and say. Yes my friend that is what I am saying and most importantly, that is what Father GOD is saying.
Proverbs 3:5 (KJV) “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
So at the beginning of this new year, let us take an account of what has been coming out of our mouths [hearts] and as David proclaimed in Psalm 19:14 (KJV),” Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”
